New Wave – The Other Cyprus together with Volt Europa welcome the almost unanimous decision of the European Parliament for an immediate and in-depth investigation of any wrongdoing revealed in the Pandora Papers, including audits on all individuals mentioned.
New Wave – The Other Cyprus together with Volt Europa, which voted in the European Parliament in favour of the decision, demand in-depth investigation of the President of the Republic of Cyprus of any wrongdoing revealed in the Pandora papers. The investigation should take place immediately and impartially.
The resolution of the European Parliament has sent a clear message, deploring the fact that a number of politicians, mentioned by name in the resolution, have also featured in the Pandora Papers. Special mention was made for the current Heads of State of the Czech and Cyprus Republics.
The dignity of Cyprus, an EU Member State, and its citizens, has once again been damaged by the actions of a few influential Cypriot families without reflecting the ethos and integrity of the majority of Cypriots, the international status of the Republic of Cyprus to be synonymous with corruption. This is not the Europe that European citizens have envisioned.
New Wave jointly with Volt Europa demand first and foremost the resignation of the First Citizen of the Republic of Cyprus for reasons of integrity and secondly, that he waives his presidential immunity to facilitate the work of the European Commission and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
